For me, IUSSC is not just a research club. It’s a community of like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds and majors who have become friends—friends who make every meeting, social event, and collaboration a joy and an inspiration. Our team is incredibly motivated, talented, and kind-hearted, and that shines through in our yearly research projects, where every member has the opportunity to contribute their unique skills and experiences. As we seek to produce work that can further the Los Angeles community and improve environmental practices around the globe, collaboration is a vital component.

     Beyond that, it takes passion and heart to share our findings with the world, and this is a precious attribute that our members possess. As this organization continues—hopefully for many years to come—my greatest hope is that our members hold onto that passion, and remember that this is not just an environmental research club. It can be a catalyst for impact if we remain focused on sharing our work in ways that make a real difference. 

     Guided by these principles, each research project can provide invaluable experience working as a team, conducting thoughtful research, and considering real world applications—things that I myself have gained as a member. With these skills, I see our members going on to achieve incredible things, but whether that be in an environmental field or elsewhere, I know that each of us shares a vision of a more sustainable future.
